What a brilliant idea: integrate turbines into the design of a building. Just imagine if every new build had solar and wind integrated into the build and electrical setup...would that be a bad thing? Surely not...
Seems to be a lot of alternative power thinking going out there these days but this one showing how scientists have invented batteries powered by, uhm, Pee, has to be the strangest that I have come across. Still worthy of a mention though.
Following on from our recent post about Wind-powered boats this effort to power a boat by wave power is worthy of mention. And no, it is no April Fools gag. It is a mighty fine idea...plenty of waves at sea ;)
Amazing. Check this out: Solar Power Paint. Brilliant!
I just love the idea of this. The goal is to "inspire a new generation of viable, super-efficient vehicles [100+ MPG] that help break our addiction to oil and stem the effects of climate change".
And there is a $10m prize fund to make it commercially worthwhile. And let's face it, whoever invents the transport of tomorrow stands to not only make a bit of cash but more importantly they could be a huge global hero.
Thinking caps on people!
Cheers

Wind-powered shipping! What an amazing and totally simple idea. No shortage of wind at sea and in this test the wind provided 20% of the power needed. And it is a big ship...not just a wee rowing boat. So there is no room for cynicism here. And with more and bigger sails the sky is literally the limit...
And if you think that's cool then check out these Air Powered cars.
In May 2007 Natural Collection launched the ‘RE-BOX’ initiative.
Our
mission was to send out orders using discarded boxes and packaging
collected from local businesses. Estimated impact? Our purchases of
recycled cardboard boxes were reduced by 75%!!!

Al Gore is a bit like marmite: you either love him or hate him. He nearly became President, won an oscar for 'An Inconvenient Truth' and was behind the recent Live Earth event. One thing not focused on nearly enough in the media is his new initiative to democratise media: Current TV. Stephen Armstrong at Sublime magazine recently interviewed Al Gore about his current activities and Sublime have kindly allowed us to reproduce the article. Enjoy.
