To end the Earth Day theme of the week I have found the most amazing image of our beautiful earth...
Continuing the Earth Day theme I am reminded that James Lovelock once famously said something about how wonderful humanity is for giving Gaia her first view of herself...a fantastic point and my, isn't she beautiful?
This week I have decided to focus on images of our beautiful planet to celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd. After yesterdays beautiful close-up I thought it would be fun to go to the other extreme.
This image is called Pale Blue Dot and shows Planet Earth on Feb 14th 1990 from 6.4 billion kilometres away courtesy of Voyager 1 where 'Earth is a dot obscured in a beam of scattered sunlight (pinpointed by artificial blue circle).' Amazing!
Earth Day nears...
Did you know that we have a Natural Collection Facebook group? Why not join the 350 (was 350 when I last looked, honest) members already signed up.
The group occasionally gets offers or news even before we send it out on email but best of all we have run (and plan to run more) some great draws/competitions. There might even be the odd freebie. You just never know what might happen...
And of course by joining you can tell your pals that you love us, and we of course, love you too!
Ahhhh...
Thanks to The Expatriate's Kitchen for hosting last week and as ever thanks to Victoria E for hosting next week. To get the carnival lowdown check out: 'Carnival of the Green'. Before you read on can I just draw your attention to a fabulous initiative we have just blogged about (even though the award deadline has passed we think you will find it worth reading about): Re-Box
So, without further ado...welcome, to the Carnival of the Green, oh, and Happy St Patrick's Day:
Our ECO LOVE extravaganza was superb and resulted in approx 100 images in our Facebook group and a few on the site's page itself. Thanks to all who took part - the resulting collection of images is well worth browsing...
Valentine's Day 2008 is nearly here and so we thought
it might be rather fun to have a themed 'ECO LOVE' competition just for our lovely
Facebook Fans. What love could be better than love for our beautiful
planet? To enter the competition all you need to do is find an image
that best demonstrates Eco Love i.e. love of our gorgeous planet. Then
just simply upload it to the 'photo' area of the Natural Collection Facebook Group page with the
label 'Eco Love' and any other further info or description you wish to
add. Make sure you have permission to upload the picture of course. We
will then pick a winning picture and that lucky person will win a fab
prize. Click the above link for more info.
We have been very busy re-launching the Natural Collection website (including the UK's first ever 'Eco Gift' List' service) but are always happy to make time to participate in this wonderful green blog event.
We are of course delighted to host this 2nd Anniversary 'Carnival of the Green' and of course thanks to Money and Value for last weeks carnival and good luck to Playgreen for next weeks.
So, without further ado...
