Gotta love vegetables! Happy National Vegetarian Week people...and if you need inspiration we have got some gorgeous seasonal recipes for you to enjoy. And hey, why not even try to grow your own strawberrys, herbs, vegetables, potatoes. We even have just the thing if you need to know how to grow your own vegetables.
Just found this idea of vertical urban farms a fascinating idea. Not sure how viable it is but it is definitely seriously clever lateral thinking, or should that be vertical thinking?

I often find myself travelling short distances by London Tube and so the Walk It site is becoming more and more useful to me. Basically, instead of travelling the one or two stops between meetings by tube it can often be quicker and healthier to walk - distances in between London Tube stations can be geographically quite small - and even if it is not quicker just getting back out on to the streets and in to the fresh air is better all round. They are even now developing pollution-aware walking routes for the inner city area.
Walk It covers London, Newcastle, Birmingham & Newcastle/Gateshead although I have only tested it in London so far. It shows you the A to B mapped route to walk along with likely journey times at various average walking speeds and the calories you are likely to burn.
What a good idea.
I have a wonderful two and a third year old son (Hi Coby!!!) and once in a while he gets to watch some TV. Mostly we restrict him to purely educational shows (animals, nature, numbers etc) which mostly means CBeebies. One show is so cool I just had to blog about it.
Tommy Zoom is the story of Tommy and his dog Daniel and their adventures battling the naughty Polluto and his cat Smogg. The show uses live action and animation to help illustrate the small choices we all make each day and the impact they have and ultimately the small choices we can choose to do that make a difference to solve those problems.
Tommy Zoom does a great job of turning complex issues into fun educational story lines to get those little ones aware from an early age.
